Abstract

ABSTRACT This study focused on youth attitude towards political content on social media, a study of Asaba metropolis. The objective of this study was to determine Asaba metropolis youth past question on political content on social media and identify whether Asaba Youth partake in publishing political content on social media. Survey research method was used for this study, a sample size of 120 was used for the study, the instrument used for the study was questionnaire, the random sampling method was used by the researcher, and the questionnaire was designed and distributed to the respondents to generate data for the study. Out of the 120 copies of cautionary administered, 100 were retrieved, and the receiver used the simple percentage method in the tabulation of results. Findings show that Asaba youth are aware of political content on social media and were familiar with political content on social media. The researcher recommends that the political content on social media should be controlled by a particular government body hence, citizen journalism is encouraged; however, care and guidance should be taken and observed. The study was anchored on uses of gratification theory of mass communication.
