A PROPOSED DESIGN OF A TEXTILE MANUFACTURING FACTORY
Abstract
This project presents the proposed design of a functional, efficient, and sustainable textile manufacturing factory aimed at supporting the economic growth of Ibiono Ibom and improving local textile production. The study examines the existing challenges in Nigeria’s textile industry—including reliance on foreign textile products, high production costs, inadequate power supply, and poor technological infrastructure—and proposes an integrated factory design capable of processing raw cotton into various finished textile products. The design incorporates essential architectural, social, and environmental considerations such as accessibility, security, ventilation, fire safety, waste management, structural stability, and space zoning to ensure optimal workflow and user comfort. Through field studies, case studies, and analysis of production processes, the project outlines a factory model that enhances productivity, encourages youth employment, and aligns with modern standards in textile engineering. The proposed design ultimately aims to revive textile manufacturing in the region by providing a sustainable, cost-effective, and technologically compliant production facility.
