INFLUENCE OF FILM ON ADOLESCENTS AS AN ESSENTIAL PHENOMENON TO SEX EDUCATION: THE MOVIE ALTER EGO AS CASE STUDY.
Abstract
The matter of sexual health among adolescents has emerged as a critical issue that
significantly influences their decision making and overall welfare. This research
examines the impact of comprehensive sex education in the analysis of Alter Ego by
engaging the understanding and the choices of adolescents regarding sexual health.
Through the use of qualitative research methods, the researcher conducted
conversations and interviews, in addition to reviewing relevant literature, to obtain
insights into the effectiveness of visual storytelling as an impactful educational tool.
The results show that visual storytelling captures the attention of adolescents by
appealing to their senses and emotions, thereby increasing their openness to crucial
information. The study emphasizes the harmful effects of societal norms and
stereotypes that have left many young people vulnerable to issues such as sexual
assault, unintended pregnancies, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) due to
inadequate sexual education. To mitigate these risks, the study supports a
comprehensive approach that stresses the significance of sexual health education from
an early age. It suggests that parents play an active role in educating their children
about sexual health, while schools should incorporate sex education into their curricula
from primary through tertiary levels. The belief that discussing sexual health is taboo
poses significant risks to young individuals, making it necessary for the government to
intervene and implement programs that address these pressing concerns. By promoting
an informed and health-conscious young population, society can strive towards
enhancing overall welfare.
