EFFECTS OF LEADERSHIP STYLE ON PRODUCTIVITY OF SECRETARIES IN PUBLIC SECTOR (A CASE STUDY OF KOGI STATE POLYTECHNIC, LOKOJA)

Abstract This study examined the “Effects of leadership style on productivity of secretaries in Public Sector” using Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja as a case study four research questions were answered. The population of the study comprised staff of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja. Descriptive statistics of mean were used for analyzing research question. The purpose of the study is to ascertain the types of leadership style obtainable in the public sector organization, to also find out why leadership style is important to organizational productivity. The research question for the study are what are the types of leadership style obtainable in public sector organization? And why is leadership style important to organizational productivity?. The survey research method was adopted for the study and the study relied much on secondary and primary data. This study revealed that the effectiveness of leadership style on business productivity in an organization. The researcher concludes that effective leadership style acts as a tool for enhancing the secretary’s productive effort and overall organizational performance. The researcher recommends that the management of business organization to make use of combinations of leadership styles.
