SYNTHESIS AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF 4-[(2-PHENYLHYDRAZONE)METHYL]ANISOLE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
In this research hydrazone prepared by reacting p-Anisoledehyde with phenylhydrazine at a reflux temperature. The aim of the research is to synthesize 4-[(2-phenylhydrazone)methyl]anisole and evaluate their antifungal activity against a panel of common fungal strains. The synthesis of 4-[(2-phenylhydrazone)methyl]anisole involved the condensation reaction between Phenylhydrazine and p-Anisoledehyde The reaction conditions were optimized to achieve high yields and purity of the target compound. The synthesized 4-[(2-phenylhydrazone)methyl]anisole were characterized using FT-IR Spectrophotometer to confirm their structures. The antifungal activity of the 4-[(2-phenylhydrazone)methyl]anisole was evaluated using standard microbiological assays, including agar diffusion and broth microdilution methods. The compounds were tested against T.subsane and A.niger Fungicidal strains. The 4-[(2-phenylhydrazone)methyl]anisole exhibited potent antifungal activity, with minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) ranging from 1.2 to 10 µg/mL.
