DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN ADVANCED IOT BASED MULTI-PARAMETER HEALTH MONITORING SYSTEM
Abstract
ABSTRACT This project presents the design and implementation of an Advanced IoT-Based Multiparameter Health Monitoring System that can track and monitor vital physiological parameters like heart rate, body temperature, blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂), and electrocardiogram (ECG) signals in real time. The system combines the ESP32 microcontroller for Wi-Fi communication and sensor interfacing, with data visualization on the Blynk mobile app. Firmware was coded in the Arduino IDE, enabling real-time acquisition, processing, and remote monitoring of the health parameters using simple-to-use mobile dashboards. Hardware integration was done using the MAX30102 sensor for pulse and SpO₂, LM35 for temperature, and AD8232 for ECG acquisition. These were placed on a Vero board and powered by a lithium-ion rechargeable battery, which had a battery life of more than six hours of continuous operation. Performance testing was conducted on twenty human people, ten males and ten females with results compared to reference clinical tools. The system achieved a mean accuracy of 90%, with acceptable signal detection and real-time response confirmed. Other aspects include on-screen alerts for abnormal readings and scalability for the future addition of other health parameters. The system was found effective for personal health monitoring, remote patient monitoring, and non-emergency healthcare purposes. The system offers a low-cost, portable, and simple-to-use method, particularly suited for deployment in home- based care and resource-poor environments. With further improvements, the system has immense scope for integration with more comprehensive telemedicine platforms.
