Abstract

The study assessed the protective effect of Datura stramonium on cadmium-induced toxicity in the cerebellum of adult male Wistar rats. Eighteen rats were divided into control and treatment groups and exposed to cadmium chloride and Datura stramonium extract for 14 days. Pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-6, TNF-α) and nitric oxide levels were evaluated using ELISA assays. Cadmium exposure significantly increased cytokine and nitric oxide levels, indicating oxidative and inflammatory damage, while Datura stramonium administration markedly reduced these biomarkers. The findings suggest that Datura stramonium possesses potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties capable of mitigating cadmium-induced neurotoxicity in the cerebellum.
