IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY ADVANCEMENTS ON PERFORMANCE OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY IN ILORIN METROPOLIS

ABSTRACT Businesses harnessing technological power are gaining competitive advantage by achieving long-term success. Technology has enabled businesses to automate processes, reduce waste, and improve efficiency and productivity. By leveraging technology, businesses can streamline workflows and reduce manual labour, leading to cost savings and increased profitability. This study therefore impact of technology advancements on performance of telecommunications industry in Ilorin metropolis. Media equation theory was utilized in this study. The study adopted a survey method, while primary data was utilized in eliciting information from the respondent through questionnaire. 179 sample was drawn from 325 population of selected telecommunications industry in Ilorin metropolis using probability sampling. The study utilized quantitative approach as the study methodology. Descriptive and inferential statistics were adopted as the means of data analysis using linear regression. Findings from the study revealed 5G Network, Artificial Intelligence and Internet have a significant effect on Market Share, Service Quality and Operational effectiveness with and R2of respectively with Pvalue of 0. respectively the study concluded that the explanatory variables (5G Network, Artificial Intelligence and Internet) are significant on the given variable (Market Share, Service Quality and Operational effectiveness). Thus, this study recommended that continuous improvements in thetechnology should be undertaken at all levels, even for those organization that have already acquired a high degree of awareness of the concept technology advancement. Finally, the study also recommends that management of the organizations should take appropriate measures to address and also put more efforts into the technology advancement.
