THE ROLE OF COMMUNICATION ON ORGANIZATION PERFORMANCE (A CASE STUDY OF FIRST BANK PLC, WARRI DELTA STATE)

This study investigated the role of communication on organizational performance with a specific focus on First Bank of Nigeria (FBN) Plc, Warri, Delta State. The primary objective was to examine how effective internal and external communication strategies contribute to employee productivity, service delivery, and the achievement of corporate goals within the banking sector. The research adopted a descriptive survey research design. The target population comprised the staff of First Bank branches within the Warri metropolis. A sample size of [Insert Number, e.g., 50] employees was selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through a structured Likert-scale questionnaire titled "Communication and Organizational Performance Questionnaire (COPQ)." Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean and frequency distributions) and Pearson Product Moment Correlation [or Chi-Square] to test the hypotheses. Findings from the study revealed a significant positive relationship between effective communication channels and employee performance. The results indicated that the use of modern communication technologies (emails, intranet, and mobile banking platforms) significantly reduced transaction turnaround time and improved customer satisfaction. However, the study also identified "top-down" communication silos and occasional technical "noise" (network failures) as barriers to optimal performance in the Warri branches.
