DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF LECTURE TIMETABLE SYSTEM
Abstract
Timetable scheduling is a fundamental and often complex task within academic institutions. The manual process of timetable preparation in many departments, including the Computer Science Department of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, is time-consuming, error-prone, and inefficient. This project presents the design and implementation of a computerized lecture timetable system to automate and optimize the process. The system aims to eliminate human errors, prevent course clashes, and ensure efficient allocation of resources such as classrooms, lecturers, and time slots. The research explores how modern computing can be applied to simplify administrative scheduling tasks while improving accuracy and saving time. The system was developed using a web-based interface for ease of access and management. This chapter outlines the context and objectives of the study, its scope, limitations, and the significance it holds for students, lecturers, and the administrative body of the Computer Science Department.
