DEVELOPMENT OF SOLAR POWERED DEEP FREEZER
Abstract
The increasing demand for sustainable and energy-efficient cold storage solutions has led to a growing interest in solar-powered freezing units. This report presents the assembly of a solar-powered freezer as a viable alternative to conventional electricity-dependent refrigeration systems. The objective of this study is to develop a freezer that operates solely on solar energy, reducing reliance on conventional power sources and minimizing the environmental impact. The assembly involves integrating photovoltaic (PV) panels, energy storage systems, and an efficient cooling mechanism into one system. The PV panels harness sunlight and convert it into electrical energy, which is stored in batteries for continuous operation during periods of limited sunlight. The energy stored in the batteries powers the cooling system of the freezer, maintaining the required low temperatures for storing perishable foods. Key considerations in the process include the selection of appropriate PV panels, battery capacity and efficient insulation materials to ensure optimal performance. The assembly of a solar-powered freezer offers several advantages, not excluding reduced dependence on fossil fuel-generated electricity, cost savings on utility bills, and the ability to provide cold storage in remote or off-grid locations. Moreover, the environmentally friendly nature of solar power aligns with the global sustainable environmental agenda.
