ProjectFederal University, Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State · 2025 · NDN PRJ-323564131762608024EFFECT OF UNETHICAL ACCOUNTING PRACTICE ON THE FINANCIAL REPORTING QUALITY OF LISTED CONSUMER GOODS FIRM IN NIGERIAIbrahim Oluwafemi Alabi · BSc · AccountingThis study examines the impact of unethical accounting practices on financial reporting quality
among consumer goods firms listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Group from 2019 to 2023.
Using an ex-post facto research design and Ordinary Least Squares regression analysis on data
from sixteen selected firms, the research investigates the relationships between income smoothing,
tax avoidance, and accelerated depreciation practices and financial reporting quality. The
findings reveal that income smoothing significantly and negatively affects financial reporting
quality, with quality declining by -0.00013039 as income smoothing increases. Tax avoidance
demonstrates an insignificant positive effect (coefficient: 0.0007598), while accelerated
depreciation shows an insignificant negative effect (coefficient: -0.0553022). These results suggest
that deliberate earnings manipulation undermines transparency and reliability, while
conservative depreciation practices reflect greater board financial expertise. Based on these
findings, the study recommends strengthening internal controls, implementing transparent
disclosure policies, developing ethical tax planning systems, and enhancing board financial
expertise to improve financial reporting quality in Nigeria's consumer goods sector.

ProjectFederal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, Nasarawa State · 2025 · NDN PRJ-3993110631762607094HEPATOPROTECTIVE EFFECT OF AQUEOUS LEAVE EXTRACT OF MORINGA LEAF (MORINGA LUCIDA) ON PLASMODIUM BERGHEI INFECTED WISTAR ALBINO RATSSimeon Ogechukwu Nwoko · HND · BiochemistryThis study was carried out to evaluate the effect of aqueous extract of Morinda lucida leave on the liver enzyme of plasmodium berghei infected rats. Twenty five adult wistar rats were divided into five groups: normal control (Group A), treated with 200mg/kg extract (Group B), treated with 400mg/kg extract (Group C), standard control with Amatem soft gel (Group D), and negative control (Group E). Liver function was assessed by measuring serum levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alkaline phosphatase (ALP). Body weight changes were monitored throughout the treatment period. The study revealed significant hepatoprotective effects of Moringa lucida extract. AST levels remained within normal ranges in treatment groups (22.0±2.65 to 35.0±1.26 IU/L) compared to the negative control (47.0±2.62 IU/L). ALT levels were well-controlled in all treatment groups (14.0±0.56 to 16.0±3.32 IU/L) versus the negative control (54.0±2.11 IU/L). ALP showed progressive increases across treatment groups but remained significantly lower than in untreated infected rats (274.0±2.53 IU/L). Body weight analysis demonstrated better weight maintenance in treated groups compared to untreated controls. These findings support the traditional use of Moringa lucida in malaria management and suggest its potential as an adjuvant therapy.
