ProjectFederal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State · 2025 · NDN PRJ-296278131762614820EFFECT OF COST REDUCTION TECHNIQUES ON PROFITABILITY IN NIGERIA MANUFACTURING FIRMSDeborah Bukola Olowo · HND · ACCOUNTANCYABSTRACT
This study examines how cost management and reduction affect Nigerian manufacturing
companies' profitability. The 78 manufacturing companies registered on the Nigerian Stock
Exchange make up the study's population, and a sample of one of these companies was used
for the study throughout a ten-year period (2012–2021). Data for the project was gathered
from the chosen company's audited financial filings. Multiple regression was used to assess
the data that had been collected. The analysis's findings showed that administrative costs
have a big impact on profitability. However, Nigerian Breweries Plc profitability is adversely
and negligibly impacted by both finance expenses and fluctuations in the cost of materials.
The study came to the conclusion that Nigerian Breweries Plc profitability is significantly
impacted by cost control and cost reduction. The study advises the proper adoption of cost
control and reduction techniques that won't result in company failure in the future. It also
suggests that these techniques be properly evaluated, constantly monitored, and checked to
make sure they serve the intended purpose.

ProjectUniversity of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State · 2025 · NDN PRJ-364801031762614604IMPACT OF AGED-ZINC OXIDE NANOPARTICLES SPIKED ULTISOL ON ARACHIS HYPOGAEA NODULATION AND BACTERIA IN THE GREENHOUSEAugusta Peter Augustus · BSc · MicrobiologyABSTRACT

The effect of zinc oxide nanoparticles spiked ultisol on Arachis hypogaea nodulation and the bacterial population was assessed using standard microbiological methods under greenhouse conditions. The bacterial counts obtained for aerobic bacteria were 6.06 ± 0.08, 5.87 ± 0.12, and 5.72 ± 0.17 Log10 CFU g⁻¹ for 1000, 2000, and 4000 mg kg⁻¹ zinc oxide nanoparticles respectively compared to 6.69 ± 0.55 Log10 CFU g⁻¹ in the control. For anaerobic bacteria, the counts were 6.12 ± 0.05, 5.76 ± 0.11, and 5.38 ± 0.12 Log10 CFU g⁻¹ for 1000, 2000, and 4000 mg kg⁻¹ zinc oxide nanoparticles respectively compared to 7.28 ± 0.18 Log10 CFU g⁻¹ in the control. In both the aerobic and anaerobic bacteria counts, there were reductions in the bacterial counts with increase in the concentration of zinc oxide nanoparticles, indicating an inhibitory effect on the bacterial counts. The probable organisms identified were members of the genera Bacillus, Corynebacterium, Clostridium, Zantobacter and Micrococcus. Zinc oxide nanoparticles was observed to have an inhibitory effect on the nodulation of Arachis hypogaea as there was no nodule formation in Arachis hypogaea planted in ultisol spiked with 1000, 2000 and 4000 mg kg⁻¹ zinc oxide nanoparticles. For the physicochemical properties of the soil, the nutritive salts were impacted. Sulphate, nitrate and phosphate were 8.04, 2.28 and 1.15mg/kg at concentrations 1000, 2000 and 1000mg kg⁻¹ respectively compared to 6.89, 1.69 and 0.857mg/kg in the controls. Zinc oxide nanoparticles exerted a stimulatory effect on the physicochemical properties of ultisol.

A quantitative survey research design was adopted to investigate this critical issue. A structured questionnaire was designed and distributed to collect data from a sample of 109 respondents, including human resource professionals, management personnel, and employees from various organizations across Nigeria. The data collected were analyzed using SPSS27, a statistical software that facilitated both descriptive and inferential statistical analyses. The study employed a t-test to test the hypotheses, aiming to assess the relationship between various human resource practices and the level of industrial harmony within organizations. The findings revealed significant relationships between specific human resource practices, such as effective communication, conflict resolution strategies, and employee welfare initiatives, and the enhancement of industrial harmony. Specifically, the results indicated that enhanced collaboration between human resources and other departments led to improved workplace relationships and minimized conflicts. Furthermore, the development of comprehensive conflict resolution programs was identified as essential for fostering an environment of cooperation and mutual respect among employees. The analysis also highlighted that increased investment in employee welfare initiatives played a crucial role in promoting industrial harmony. Respondents reported that when organizations prioritized employee well-being, job satisfaction increased, leading to a more harmonious workplace atmosphere. Additionally, the study found that human resource practitioners faced several challenges in implementing effective strategies to promote industrial harmony, including limited resources, inadequate training, and resistance to change among employees. In conclusion, the study underscored the vital role of human resources in fostering industrial harmony in Nigeria. It emphasized the need for organizations to adopt comprehensive human resource practices that prioritize effective communication, conflict resolution, and employee welfare. By doing so, organizations can create a conducive work environment that enhances productivity and overall employee satisfaction. ProjectCrawford University of Apostolic Faith Mission Faith City, Igbesa, Ogun State · 2025 · NDN PRJ-4214623731762612979PROSPECTS AND CONSTRAINTS OF PRESS FREEDOM AND HUMAN RIGHTS IN NIGERIA’S FOURTH REPUBLIC- AN ASSESSMENT OF THE MUHAMMADU BUHARI ADMINISTRATION (2015-2023)Princess Toluwani Imhanbor · BSc · Political Science and International RelationsThis study examines the relationship between press freedom and human rights in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic, with a focus on the impact of press freedom under the Muhammadu Buhari administration (2015–2023). The study explores the prospects and constraints of press freedom in Nigeria and how these factors influence the protection of human rights in the country. The research is based solely on secondary data, which were collected through document analysis of relevant reports, articles, and legal frameworks. The study found that while Nigeria’s constitutional provisions for press freedom exist, their application has been inconsistent, with numerous instances of government suppression and media restrictions. These limitations have hindered the media’s role in holding the government accountable and protecting human rights. The study concluded that the deterioration of press freedom under the Muhammadu Buhari administration has had a negative impact on human rights in Nigeria, including limiting free expression and increasing state repression. The study recommends that the Nigerian government prioritize press freedom by strengthening legal frameworks, reforming laws that restrict free expression, and ensuring that journalists are protected from harassment and arrest. Furthermore, it recommends that Nigeria avoid enacting laws that restrict press freedom, such as the Cybercrimes Act and Anti-Terrorism Act, and focus on reforming them to protect rather than suppress independent journalism.
